Christmas period in Spain: Dec 24 to Jan 7
Usually there are only two events during Christmas: Christmas itself (25) and new year event (31). In Spain we also celebrate the 'three wise men' on day 6, which is when they brought their presents to Jesus. This is also the date when we give the presents to our children instead of 25.
Though some families like mine gave them to me on 25 like anywhere else. Partly because we are atheists but for the most part because my birthday is January 8 which is also the same date I had to go back to school so, either I received some on Christmas and some on my birthday, or everything on either day 6 or 8 in which case I wouldn't have enough time to enjoy my presents. So my parents decided some on 25 and some on 8.
